Being a Ghillie may be classed as a man's job, so when you're female it can be quite strenuous at times. Having said that, I have been known to succeed where many a man would't in what is difficult and sometimes dangerous work.

I earned the nickname "Frilly Ghillie" whilst working with the boys up the hill about ten years ago. Now the name is associated with other works that I do throughout the year.

Being a ghillie is of course seasonal, so I have used my creativity and put my time to good use the rest of the year.

2012
 
 The Scottish Tradefair  
 SECC Glasgow, January ,   Selling Hats  and  Scottish   plumes to the trade.
 
The Gamekeepers Fair - Catton, Derbyshire, April 14th & 15th.  I will be in the stalking village with a Highland Pony, 3 different saddles styles used for hill work, panniers and information on deer extraction using ponies, which I will be demonstrating during the day. I will also have a selection of my hats for sale.

 Lochinch Gardening event - 29th April

Grampian Country show - 9th  June. I will be doing demonstrations of red deer stalking in Scotland and showing the use of the working Highland pony. I will also have a selection of my hats and accessories for sale.

Black Isle Show, Inverness - 2nd August.  I will have a pony in the working harness class.

Highland fieldsports fair, Moy, Invernesshire - 3rd & 4th August. I will once again be here with my hats.

 Lonach Highland Gathering - 25th August. I will have the usual stand selling my hats. There is always a lot of tartan for this day too.

 Lochinch Christmas fair in November.
